Our natural environment in which we live is under constant threat, and, although the glass is toughened, by using glass as my medium I feel that it portrays the fragile and breakable world that surrounds us.
All of my paintings are a complete one-off. There are never any prints made and I never paint multiples of the same image, so whoever purchases one of my paintings can rest assured that there is nothing else the same, and that they are in possession of something that will not only increase in value but have something very unique and special.
All my pictures come in either copper, silver or gold effect high quality frames.
All glass is toughened to European standards, has polished edges and is 4mm thick.
People who buy my artwork will also be contributing towards various wildlife charities.
I have painted on so many office and shop windows over the years with my sign writing that it seemed like a natural progression for me to develop my artwork by painting my pictures on glass.
It can be a very laborious method as the paints that I use are enamels and take a long time to dry. I paint on the back of the glass which means that everything is painted in reverse, i.e. the foreground of the painting will be the first thing I paint and the background being the last. This creates a very fresh and modern final look to my paintings. On all my pictures I use gold, copper or silver leaf which is floated onto the glass using very old skills which involve the use of static from my hair.
What I find most interesting about my paintings is the unusual shadows they project upon the wall, which varies throughout the day. This is because the image stands away from the surface from where it is hung.
I'm always interested in carrying out work on a commission bassis.
